NordicTrack Commercial 1750 vs. NordicTrack Elite 5700

NordicTrack Commercial 1750 vs. NordicTrack Elite 5700 Comparison

Retailers love exclusivity. They want the items that they sold to be unavailable to purchase in their competing stores so that the customers can’t compare prices and finally buy from other stores. That’s why retailers often make deals with manufacturers to provide them with exclusive models that are only available in their stores.

Such is the case for NordicTrack Elite 5700. This model is the slightly different variation of NordicTrack Commercial 1750 since it is made exclusively for Sears. Being the spin-off version of the popular Commercial 1750 model, the Elite 5700 share many similar traits with its role model. But there are also few differences that set 5700 apart from 1750. What are the similarities and differences between these two models? Let’s have a closer look.

Capture

The Similarities

We can safely say that NordicTrack Elite 5700 is almost the exact clone of NordicTrack Commercial 1750, from the features, machine, to the finish.

The Running Area

The running areas of both treadmills are powered by 3.8 HP motor drives. That’s plenty of power to satisfy the need of most home runners. They are also provide users with a spacious 22” x 60” running belt, bigger than many rival models, and will provide users with large enough space to move around. The machines are designed to withstand up to 400lbs of weight, practically can handle any normal human size load that you throw at them.

The speed of the belt can be adjusted from zero up to the maximum of 12 mph. Unless you are Usain Bolt, the speed is enough to cater regular running by regular home users. The adjustable speed also means that you can customize your workout to simulate a gentle walk up to a high speed sprint.

Inclining and Declining Feature

One unique feature that comes with these models is the ability to adjust the running track beyond the flat zero degrees. If you are craving for more challenge from your running, you could utilize the feature to add the difficulty level to your daily running.

Powered by separated motor, the track can be set to go up to 15 percent incline to simulate uphill run and down to the maximum of 3 percent decline to simulate downhill run. The number might not look significant enough to the extra challenge, but even many of the seasoned runners have to slow down the belt to keep up with the speed. Running in angled surface required more power and stability. It also help runners address different part of the muscle groups to train.

Heavy Duty Cushioning

Since many home runners are amateurs without years of proper training to back them up, the risk of injuries is bigger than professionals who are already familiar with the tricks of the trade. That’s why the cushioning feature that comes with both 1750 and 5700 models is a real lifesaver. Literary.

The FlexSelect technology can absorb up to 30 percent of the shock that comes with body weight load. This feature will minimize the risk of injuries to runner’s joints. The absorbtion will make the running track to feel softer when it’s turned on. Those who prefer the feel of running on the hard asphalt or concrete pavement can turn the feature off if they want.

Folding Features

One of the major concerns about rich-featured treadmills is the size. There are many times when manufacturers have to add more features to keep up with user’s demand. But the addition often comes with the extra dimension, and it means that users need bigger room to store the machine.

Both NordicTrack Elite 5700 and Commercial 1750 are big machines. You would be better off paying someone to assemble and move them around. Fortunately, the are equipped with SpaceSaver folding frame design and EasyLift feature. The design and feature will allow you to restore some precious space by folding the machine to a smaller size and storing them somewhere safe. This technology will give users the ability to fold their machine in one step. It’s also more secure compared to most other folding technology.

Internet, Tablet, and Entertainments

All exercise and no play will make you a dull runner. That’s why both treadmills come with a web-enabled, Android-powered, 7 inch full-color touch-screen display. With a proper internet connection, you can use it to browse the web, access email accounts, watch YouTube videos, or do other fun things while you are running.

And if one display is not enough, you can add your own tablet to the mix because both machines feature tablet holders that can fit most available tablets on the market.

What about music? If you want to have your favorite songs accompany your daily runs, have no worry. These two treadmills supports digital music players and come with two high-quality 3” stereo speakers to ensure that you have the best sounds.

iFit and Workouts

You can also use it to access any of the 38 built-in workout programs designed by certified trainers to help you achieve various goals from your training. With this many choices, it’s easy to find a program that works best for your and your fitness needs.

NordicTrack Elite 5700 and Commercial 1750 also iFit compatible. The subscription also allows you to choose one of the Google Maps-powered running routes from all over the world. Not only you can view the tracks in map mode, but you can also see what the area really look like in the real world using Google Street View feature. As an addition, the running area will adjust the incline/decline level to mimic the real condition of the routes.

Those who are competitive at heart, you can use iFit to connect with other iFit compatible treadmills users to have virtual race and decide who is the fastest man alive – among your peers.

 Controls and Monitors

It’s useless to have all the cool features if users have to go through hoops to control them. That’s why the engineers at NordicTrack specifically designed the 1-Touch control feature. Using the console, the user can access and adjust virtually everything about the treadmills, such as: the speed of the belt, the incline and decline, the Intermix Acoustics audio center, the dual Autobreeze fans, and the heart-rate monitor.

Specifically, about the heart-rate monitor, there are two ways that you can use to record your heartbeats. The first one is using the wireless chest strap that won’t interfere with your movements, and the second one is via the grip pulse sensors on the handlebars.

The Bottle and The Fans

To help you regulate your body temperature during your exercise, your body produces sweat. To keep your body healthy, you need to replace the missing fluid. These two treadmills provide you with two water bottle holders that you can use to store your energy-drink-filled bottles of beverages. Plus, there are the adjustable dual AutoBreeze fan that can help the process.

Warranty

Both treadmills are protected by a lifetime guarantee for the frame and motor, with a separated 5-year warranty on parts and electric, and a 2-year warranty on labor. With this generous warranty, you don’t have to worry about your machine stop working for the rest of your life.

The Differences

As mentioned earlier in the very beginning, NordicTrack Elite 5700 is virtually the same machine as the popular NordicTrack Commercial 1750, but customized to be sold exclusively at Sears. So, looking for the differences between the two is not an easy task. There’s this gap in the price range, but it’s insignificant since the difference is very small.

If we must find something, the best one to mention would be the quality concerns. Being a clone of the 1750 model, Elite 5700 line lacks a few quality points, such as the noise. NordicTrack Elite 5700 is reported to making more noises than NordicTrack Commercial 1750.

Unlike the Commercial 1750, the Elite 5700 is also not made from commercial grade parts. You might want to consider about the longevity of your machine before making an educated decision.

Our Verdict

While both machines are similar in almost every aspect, NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is a better machine. While the Elite 5700 model comes with a cheaper price, it’s also built using lesser quality materials. For machine that is constantly being pounded by heavy load, using less than the best materials is a huge deal breaker. So unless Sears is the only available options for you, it’s better to go with the 1750 model to get the true NordicTrack experience.
